Where to Buy These Items:

Where I buy some of the more unusual food and condiments that I eat:

Meat

  • English Banger Sausages (Pork) - Save-on-Foods
  • Goat Meat - Indian or Halal Grocers; Costco has bone-in goat (pressure cook)
  • Ground Lamb - Safeway
  • Beef Heart - T&T Supermarkets (pressure cook)
  • Beef Tongue - T&T Supermarkets (slow cook or pressure cook)

Poultry

  • Chicken Feet (for stock) - T&T Supermarkets

Seafood

  • Searay Wild-caught Lake Smelt - T&T Supermarkets (fry these delicious little fish in hot oil/fat after breading with homemade pork panko; no need to remove heads, tails or anything, eat the whole fishies!)
  • Rio Mare Tuna - most supermarkets, even Walmart (I usually buy it on sale as it's quite expensive, but it's way nicer than regular canned tuna)

Dairy

  • Sheep's Yogurt - Pomme; Costco
  • Dairyland 4% (Full-fat) Cottage Cheese - Walmart
  • Pure Egg White Powder - there are several Canadian brands. Amazon.ca is usually the cheapest place to buy it. Note: If you're trying to avoid US products, some European brands are cheaper than Canadian.

Condiments

  • Aleppo chili flakes - Real Canadian Superstore
  • Steeves Sugar-Free, Maple-Taste Syrup - Walmart, Real Canadian Superstore

Miscellaneous

  • Pork Panko - I just whiz up some pork rinds in the food processor. Way cheaper than buying Pork Panko, but it is available from companies like Pork King Good and Bacon's Heir. Both of these are American companies, so you generally need to buy their products online from websites like iHerb.com, Amazon.ca or LowCarbCanada.ca. Also, here's a recipe for low-carb breading for frying fish, chicken, etc.
