Always Buy Meat on Sale!

Honestly, there's almost no reason to buy meat at full price. Safeway always has meat on sale here in the Vancouver area. Freeze meat that is at its due date immediately and use it at your leisure. I will divide the ground beef into smaller packages and freeze them. I will probably cook the pork roast, eat it for a couple of meals and freeze the rest.

Cooked meats are great in salads, by the way! Use your microwave's defrost setting to gently thaw meat, if you forget to take it out of the freezer. For winter salads, gently warm up leftover cooked meat in the microwave, then dice or shred it. Cold weather salads benefit a lot from hearty meats like beef, lamb or pork.

UPDATE: I got five large servings from the pork loin roast! That's $5.41 per delicious serving. Haven't used the ground beef yet, but it will provide four servings at $3.23 per serving. I probably could have got six servings from the pork loin, but, because I eat low carb, I need a lot of protein in my diet, so I try to err on the side of more rather than less.
